Overview

Landis Architects | Builders, established in 1990, is a renowned residential design-build firm specializing in high-end residential and light commercial renovations. Known for our leadership in green remodeling and award-winning designs, our offices are in Takoma, DC, a five-minute walk from the Takoma Redline Metro Station.

 

Landis is seeking a dynamic Project Designer or Architect to join our diverse and talented Design Team. This role requires creativity, expertise, and a collaborative spirit to transform clients' homes. Responsibilities may vary based on the candidate’s experience and seniority. The position requires reliable transportation for site visits and the ability to work a hybrid schedule from our Takoma, DC location.

 

This full-time permanent role offers a competitive salary range from $85,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Oversee and manage multiple design projects from inception to completion
  • Ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of project milestones
  • Support secondary projects as needed

Design & Technical Coordination

  • Conduct architectural tasks including existing condition analysis, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
  • Manage interior design aspects including finish selections, color schemes, and sketching
  • Oversee cabinet ordering, quality control, and installation
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural teams.

Client Relations & Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors
  • Actively participate in collaborative team efforts and continuous professional development

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of residential design experience. Candidates with more than 10 years of experience will be considered at the higher end of the salary range.
  • Proficiency in Chief Architect, Revit LT, Smartsheet and DesignFiles.
  • Experience in zoning, code analysis, material selections, specifications, and permitting processes.
  • Experience in construction administration for residential and light commercial projects.
  • NCARB, NCIDQ, CKBD certifications are a plus.
