Overview

Gauthier, Alvarado & Associates, a Northern Virginia Architectural/Engineering firm, is a multi-disciplined engineering firm in Fairfax, Virginia. We provide Architectural, Interior, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical engineering for a variety of projects that include commercial office buildings, educational facilities, public agencies, and interior tenant build-outs. GAA is seeking an Interior Designer with experience in space planning, furniture coordination, interior finish selections and interior construction documents for educational, government, and commercial facilities. NCIDQ, IIDA, or CIDQ Certification is required.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the candidate will include: preparation of studies, design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration services.  Good communication and writing skills are a must.

 

We are interested in candidates who are self-motivated, posseses a great attitude and who will fit in as a vital member of our firm working closely with our in-house architects and structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers. The person will be involved in a variety of projects ranging throughout Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland. Candidates must be well-organized, clear communicators, and proficient in AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited university.
  • Any of the following certifications required: NCIDQ, IIDA, CIDQ.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in interior design for commercial, educational and public facility projects.
  • Must have hands-on experience with construction documents, writing specifications, and understanding building codes.
  • Experience with design and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage with clients to determine their needs and provide construction documents that reflect their expressed needs.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry design standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT
