Overview

Gauthier, Alvarado & Associates, a Northern Virginia Architectural/Engineering firm, is a multi-disciplined engineering firm in Fairfax, Virginia. We provide Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical engineering for a variety of projects that include commercial office buildings, educational facilities, public agencies, and interior tenant build-outs. GAA is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in developing construction documents for power, lighting, fire alarm, security and telecommunications systems for educational, government, and commercial facilities.  LEED certification is desirable.  Good communication and writing skills are a must.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the candidate will include: preparation of studies, electrical evaluations, design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration services.  We are interested in candidates who are self-motivated, posses a great attitude and who will fit in as a vital member of our firm working closely with our in-house architects and structural, mechanical and plumbing engineers. The person will be involved in a variety of projects ranging throughout Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland. Candidates must be well-organized, clear communicators, and proficient in AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidate must have hands-on experience with construction documents, writing specifications, and understanding building codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • EIT or interest in obtaining your EIT preferred.
  • Minimum 0-5 years experience in electrical design for commercial, educational and public facility projects.
  • Experience with design and analysis of electrical power distribution systems, lighting, telecommunications and fire alarm systems.
  • Construction observation experience.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry design standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT MEP
