Overview

The Canopy by Hilton Washington DC Embassy Row is looking for a Director of Food and Beverage to join their team.  This role will be based out of the Canopy by Hilton property located at 1600 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036.  

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall Food & Beverage leadership for Canopy by Hilton Washington, DC

• Responsible for the development and enhancement of the food product that is presented to guests; recommending changes to the product using market research to develop new products and menu concepts

• Responsible for the selection, training, and development of the personnel within the department; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; safety; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and overseeing departmental matters as they relate to federal, state, and local employment laws.

• Review staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.

• Establish goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

• Work closely with vendors to obtain the highest quality offerings at the most reasonable price.

• Manage department expenses including food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment.

• Positively interact with other department heads to maintain a cooperative, team attitude to help achieve common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with employees, other department heads, and guests

• Creating and maintaining vibe of the local neighborhood as part of the Canopy brand

• Being a trendsetter in DC culinary

• Meeting and exceeding Canopy brand standards, including: SALT Scores, QA inspections, and City Health Inspections

• Provide direction for menu development and presentation

• Empower employees to provide excellent guest service by establishing guidelines to help employees understand expectations and goals.

• Provide direction for menu development

• Train new Lead cooks, Kitchen and Restaurant Staff,

• Review P&L Statements for GMs in need of F&B support

• Review F&B budgets

• Concept new projects

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the culinary, F&B, or related profession
  • 2+ years of culinary or F&B managerial experience
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Ability to create marketing strategies and promotional menu items to increase business
  • Must have a positive attitude and serve as a leader within the organization
  • The position will require lifting up to, and exceeding 25 lbs.
