Energy Engineer is responsible for developing multiple capital infrastructure (primarily MEP) and energy savings performance contracting projects from solution / scope development to the design and pricing or detailed engineering phase. The Energy Engineer works closely with the Director of Infrastructure & Energy Projects, the Business Development (Sales) Team and our energy engineers to provide our prospective clients with the technical and economic solutions that meet their buying criteria. The Energy Engineer also works with our Project Management team as the project moves to the final scope development and firm pricing phase to ensure an effective transfer of information, intent and project lead responsibilities.

 

The Energy Engineer maintains effective working relationships with the client and their facility managers and end users, as well as the EAS Sales and Project Management Teams. Key to maintaining those relationships is regular communication of the project development status through meetings, along with written and verbal updates of the development deliverable and schedule.

 

The Energy Engineer will utilize support from internal and external technical groups as required for the projects. The Energy Engineer is responsible for managing all assigned project(s) and representing the Aramark’s and the Client/Owner’s best interests in developing projects to meet clients’ needs while managing financial and technical risk.

 

This is a remote role for candidates living on the East coast, ideally between PA and NC.  Travel for this role will be 30-50%.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical and financial solutions to Client’s existing building performance problems (including poor energy efficiency, comfort control, IAQ, etc.)
  • Develops solutions into design/build or energy savings performance contracting (ESPC) projects for Aramark’s Infrastructure and Energy (I&E) team.
  • Lead project development effort from initial solution development through the detailed design phase.
  • Performs and manages others in identifying energy conservation measures and performing energy savings calculations, cost estimating and preliminary and investment grade energy audit report development
  • Performs quality reviews of energy auditors work including energy calculations and reasonableness of overall energy savings projections.
  • Assists in identifying contractors and engineering firms best suited to meet the needs of projects in the development phase.
  • Manages consultants and subcontracting partners in the development of project scopes of work and costs.
  • Leads reviews of designs, scopes of work and cost estimates with the Project Management Team as the proposed solutions are developed and financial proforma’s are developed.
  • Administers professional consulting contracts working with Aramark’s financial and legal teams.

Qualifications

  • Working and engineering level knowledge of building energy systems (HVAC, building automation, domestic hot water, lighting, etc.)
  • Extensive experience identifying ECMs, calculating energy savings and estimating ECM costs and simple paybacks for a wide range of building related energy efficiency measures.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and BAS upgrade projects a must.
  • Able to be highly productive working from home while also being willing to travel to client sites on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using energy modeling software a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and expertise in working with diverse groups of individuals and building partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and prioritize assignments
  • Must be an effective communicator, written and oral, capable of addressing large audiences including committees, high level administrators and other project stakeholders. The ability to explain technical issues in a non-technical manner.
  • Exceptional judgment, integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to think strategically, and delivery tactically.
  • Willing to travel to project opportunities, primarily on the East Coast but possibly throughout the Country. Position includes approximately 30% to 50% travel
  • Comfortable with change.
  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn new things.

 

Education / Experience

 

  • Experience, Minimum 7 years of energy project development or energy engineering experience serving institutional and/or commercial building clients.
  • Facilities Management experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is a plus.
  • AEE Certified Energy Manager certification a plus.
  • Professional Engineering License is a plus
