Position Description (Mon-Fri, in-person/in-office)

This role requires you to be a highly motivated and experienced Director of Accounting who oversees all financial and accounting activities for this established, respected small business with 50+ employees. You will work closely with upper management, be extremely detail oriented, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will be responsible for managing the activities of the accounting staff. The Director of Accounting will be a self-starter and leader who can be a trusted partner and advisor, making sound recommendations on all financial aspects of the business. You will build quality business relationships with the Kroeger Marine staff and vendors. This position reports directly to the CFO/General Manager as well as regular interaction with the owners. The Director of Accounting is responsible for assuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions and subsequent financial reporting; adhering to and guaranteeing compliance with all applicable internal and external mandates; and ensuring ethical operation of the businesses.


● Manage all activities of the accounting staff

● Schedule and balance workload among accounting staff 

● Provide critical quality control on all General Ledger accounts

● Responsible for management and oversight of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly financial reporting.

● Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual operating budgets and cash flow forecasts

● Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans

● Monitor the financial performance of the company

● Communicate with senior management on financial metrics

● Provide leadership and support to accounting department, including staff development

● Ensure that financial reports comply with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

● Performs other tasks as necessary Including,

- Assisting with the implementation of a new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics)

- Develop and manage pricing systems


To perform this job successfully, the Director of Accounting must be able to perform each essential duty accurately, timely and effectively. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Minimum 10 years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience demonstrating a progression of responsibility with a similar or larger size company.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.

· Preference will be given to candidates with Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.

· Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Attention to detail and commitment to customer service is required.

· Experience in upholding excellent accounting and reporting functions, as well as documenting policies and procedures. Requires strength in multi-tasking, prioritizing demands and project management.

· Superior analytical, quantitative, problem solving and communication skills.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.

· Impeccable integrity and ethics.
