Baylor University, in partnership with a contract services company is looking for a Driector of Mechanical and Electrical Services to join their growing team.  In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight and strategic direction of the technical services provided to Baylor University.  Develops a safety culture that holds all accountable for safety.  Has day to day oversight of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.  Ensures that all preventative and predictive maintenance is completed for all MEP assets based on their criticality and reliability ratings.  Provides direction and guidance on resource allocation to ensure customer corrective and planned work is accomplished per established standards.  Has oversight of the Baylor Energy Complex, which provides steam and chilled water across most of the campus.  Oversees the technical and customer facing aspects of the energy program.

  • Develop and be accountable for a safety culture that creates a work environment where no one gets hurt.
  • Responsible for human resources activities; timekeeping; time and attendance, payroll, training, etc.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, safety inspections, and code compliance activities.
  • Use the sustainability platform to constantly find avenues to reduce energy costs and consumption.
  • Coordinate with the client and key stakeholders across campus to facilitate planning, budgeting and scheduling of projects.
  • Lead internal efforts to operationalize BIM across O&M functions, and coordinate those efforts with the client and corporate Engineering Services.
  • Determine the causes of malfunctions, the extensiveness of repair or modification needs.
  • Develop planning documents for initiation of projects for approval.
  • Hire, guide, train, and give technical assistance to supervisors and employees engaged in plant and operations.
  • Communicate with all levels within the organization and external vendors and contractors.
  • Implement and maintain an effective two-way communication system which reaches all employees.
  • Ensure that work management system is accurate, and that closed communication is taking place with customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and other local, state and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Develop annual maintenance plan, maintains deferred maintenance list and capital projects list.
  • Actively use the CMMS to manage and report on services.
  • Seek ways to build the business.
  • Collaborate and engage our non-resident Technical Service Team.


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or like field of study, required. Mechanical or electrical engineer preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in construction and/or maintenance operations required.
  • Knowledge of facilities planning, utility planning, construction management, energy program management required.
  • Experience with financial reporting and management and strong skills in financial analysis.
  • Must have strong communication skills (verbal & written), excellent problem solving, people management, and process management.
  • Ability to interact with client management and establish/maintain effective performance-based client and customer relations.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work in a fast paced and team environment.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in the use and functionality of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
