That’s why we have created a new Senior-level position to lead our efforts in this area. The job reports directly to ownership as indication of the importance we attach to it.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The Director of People & Culture of Alexandria Restaurant Partners is responsible for short and long term planning and management of the Human Resources function, including:

 

· Facilitating the hiring and retention of exceptional talent as well as driving new ARP restaurants opening HR processes, team engagement, learning and development, and talent management.

· Working with the Owners and Director of Operations to manage performance, disciplinary action and compliance initiatives, and to oversee and investigate all employee relations and labor-related matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws.

· Building positive and effective working relationships with restaurants and their teams in order to drive development, effectiveness, engagement and retention in line with the needs of the business

Responsibilities

PLANNING

· Establish and implement annual objectives for the Human Resources Department, including a departmental mission statement, time-to-hire metrics, and company turnover goals.

· Plans future recruitment strategies for the attainment of qualified personnel according to ARP needs, with a special emphasis on developing internal talent.

· Select and manage an appropriate Applicant Tracking System

 

RECRUITMENT

· Develop, direct and oversee overall recruitment and hiring activities and strategies for all positions. Personally manage corp and GM hires, use outside recruiters for other management hires and overseeing 2 people internally for hourly positions.

· Develop job descriptions, prepare job postings, check application forms, screen and select candidates

· Conduct wage/salary/benefit surveys of the local market and recommend enhancements of the current compensation plan.

· Support and uphold ARP culture concerning hiring, employee relations, and supervision.

· Coordinates and monitors new hire orientation.

 

TRAINING

· Develop, maintain and coordinate training programs that provide for specific skills training and management/supervisory development, including anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training. Supervise full-time training manager in these efforts.

· Direct and coordinate human resources activities to hire, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel.

 

COMMUNICATION AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

· Facilitate a culture of commitment to the company's values, standards, operating philosophies and overall business strategy

· Monitor and assess employee morale and develop strategies to enhance overall employee satisfaction

· Directly facilitate, in conjunction with ARP restaurants Directors and general managers, open employee communication.

· Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve all employee conflict.

· Conduct Exit Interviews and use the information gathered to continue to cultivate a positive and professional workplace.

 

 

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

· Maintain and ensure adherence of all policies, procedures and standards.

· Coordinate staff review and appraisal programs company-wide

· Supervise, direct, coordinate and influence staff in order to maintain high service standards.

· Update employee handbooks.

 

 

LEGAL

· Monitor ARP restaurants compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.

· Maintain accurate employee records that comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws.

 

 

FINANCE

· Prepare and maintain operating budget for HR functions

· In close collaboration with the ownership; maintain and administer employment, wage and salary

· Participate in the budget process as it relates to staffing and compensation.

· Monitor staff turnover and recommend changes and improvements.

 

 

OTHER

· Manage the corporate website, ARP “first touch”

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • HR experience in Hospitality industry highly preferred
